The musical smartphone - Nokia N91

The invention of the new Nokia N91 will bring shivers down your spine. First of all it is made of real steel and secondly its musical in the sense that it provides with a great quality of audio player in it. Completely enclosed with stainless steel the N91 has dedicated music keys which slide down flaunting the keypad. The keypad is situated in a very compact position. To be more specific about the description of the keypad, the keypads are visible when the user scrolls down the music keys placed right below the display. The music keys are quite big and comfortable to use however the buttons are small and rectangular in shape with a four-way joystick. Since the buttons of the keypad are small it becomes very uncomfortable for the user to handle it. Now this is observed to be a very common problem in some of the Nokia handsets. It does not provide with any mechanical accompaniment to open its keypad cover. The edges of the slide are quite sharp. So watch out! Nevertheless N91 looks stunning and sophisticated.
The handset measures 113.1 x 55.2 x 22 mm weighing 164 g. It shares its network withUTMS / GSM 900/ GSM 1800/ GSM 1900. The display type being TFT, 256K colours with size of 176 x 208 pixels, 35 x 41 mm. The contrast level of the display is not enough because of which typing messages in the day will prove to be difficult for the user. Operates with Symbian 9.1.
The Nokia N91 facilitates with messaging via SMS and MMS and email. The email client operates with the SMTP, POP3 and IMAP4 protocols. The bulit-in web browser hepls with simple java scripts, actual page visualization and transferred data counter. The Wi-Fi software is preinstalled which searches quickly and informs if network is available or vice versa. The memory space is a staggering 4 GB.
For transfer of data, the N91 provides with Bluetooth and USB cable. There is a USB connector port on the left side of the phone. The sad part is that infrared port is not present. Also GPRS class 10, EDGE class 10 and UTMS help with the transfer with a PC suite CD.
In order to browse, the phone helps with WAP 2.0/xHTML and HTML browsers.
The best part i.e the music player of the phone is fully functional through the remote control featuring a built-in microphone and a clip with earpieces of high quality. The audio quality is amazing with ID3 tags. The player allows to create n number of playlists. In regards to the camera, the Nokia N91 consists of a 2 megapixel camera with maximum resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels (VGA). The speed of the clicking of the first picture is high enough for a smartphone with OS. The worst part is that the camera lens is not protected which simply means, one slip from the hands and you are up for a big bucks shell-out (which would obviously be possible only if 2 Mp camera lenses are available in your area). The user can capture pictures in night mode, self timer mode and potrait mode. Video recording can be done for 1 hour in MP4 format with resolution of 352 x 288 pixels. The quality of the video is good. Also boasts with Java MIDP 2.0 and MP3/AAC player.
The N91 also enables the users to enjoy visual radio. But Features such as Visual Radios and 3G are not yet adequately usuable in all the countries. We wonder why Nokia taps so much on that market.
Its music player helps one to know what song is being played and various other things. Apart from all these the Nokia N91 performs the usual functions of messaging, call registers that maintain a list of received, dialed and missed calls, call waiting, conference and many more. The phonebook provides maximum memory to store in a lot of details. This is a basic facility that is mainly required.
So, these were the details about Nokia N91 which is sure to attract people soon. The battery life is pathetic due to the wide range of power consuming features like Wifi, Bluetooth, Camera, etc. Once the phone is used to listen to music or any other activity is done the handset begs for charge of its battery. Thats bad!
We say, Its a way too expensive. Yes, we agree to the fact that there are some healthy features like Wifi and Visual radio for entertainment, but, such features can be used much more practically when they are more commonly used in the market or rather by the people around you. In short, it doesnt materialize just for showing-of purposes. So this is something to be thought about.
