The
Nokia 9300 is a communicator which is designed in a slender
and slim pattern. The keypad is well situated thereby adding
to its slender look. Since the handset is slim, it makes
it easy for the user to slip it in his pocket comfortably unlike
other heavy communicators which prove it inconvenient for the
user to even carry it portably.
The Nokia 9300 weighs 167g measuring 132mm x 51mm
x 21mm, 126cc. It operates with Triband EGSM 900, GSM
1800 and GSM 1900 along with automatic switching between
the bands. Also AMR Voice code for 1900 frequency band.
Certain features it contains are alarm clock, music player
with MP3, MPEG-4 (AAC), Real audio and MIDI, wallpapers,
calculator as well as screen saver.
It has a 80 MB built-in memory for saving contacts,
messages, images, files, applications and sounds, Memory
card slot with hotswap functionality for additional
memory.
The internal display of 640 x 200 pixels, has Active
transflective color display, supports resolution of upto 65,536
colors and adjustable display brightness control.
There is an Active TFT external color display of 128
x 128 pixels, also supports a resolution upto 65,536
colors.
The cover consists of one user configurable soft key, list
menu and a five-way navigation key. The communicator
has Full QWERTY keyboard with 8 application shortcut
keys, one application shortcut key user, 5-way joystick,
Symbian operating system version 7.0s and Series 80 platform.
The
user can send MMS with compatible devices that is sending
and receiving messages with text, a sound clip and an image
or a video clip to other compatible devices, Multi-slide
presentations as MMS compatible devices, delivery reports
and multiple recipients.
In order to access email the protocols that support email
are IMAP4, POP3 APOP, SMTP, MIME, IMAP4-SSL/TLS, POP3-SSL/TLS,
SMTP-SSL/TLS, OMA and SATA synchronization. The user
can send and receive fax through GSM number as well.
With regard to text messaging, the handset provides distribution
lists, message register and picture messaging. The user can
attach portrait images to contacts. The Nokia 9300 comes
up loaded with Real video, MPEG4 and H.263 formats.
The 9300 handset provides connectivity with Pop-Port
interface, USB 2.0 connectivity (Nokia connectivity
Cable DKU-2), Infrared, Bluetooth wireless technology,
internet browser -HTML 4.01 / XHTML, OMA DRM forward lock
content protection, OMA device management, OMA data synchronization
as well as allows to connect wirelessly to a compatible phone
or a compatible PC, install applications with Nokia PC
suite.
For transfer of data, the handset helps the user with EGPRS*
Mutislot class 10, data transfer upto 236.8kbit/s in EDGE
networks, data transfer upto 53.6kbit/s in GPRS networks,
circuit- switched data, HSCSD and Fax transmission.
The
handset manages the speed dialing, last number redial
from dialed calls list, automatic and manual network selection,
closed user group, Voice recording, integrated handsfree
speaker and conference call.
The user is allowed to download games in the Nokia 9300
via Java technology (MIDP 2.0) and personal profile
Java 1.0. The Nokia 9300 stores 40 polyphonic
ringtones though voice clips and Mp3's can also be used
as ring tones.
The handset applies with Word processor(documents),
spreadsheet viewer and editor, presentation viewer, compatibility
with MS Office programs (MS Office 97 onwards). Nokia
PC suite being the software.
The Nokia 9300 does not have any specific battery
problems as such but the inclusion of Wi-Fi technology
could have enhanced their profit charts perhaps. Above all
it does not have vibrating alert which shows that the
user will unfortunately have no hint if he gets a call whilst
the phone is in silent mode. Now that is bad!! Especially
for a Professional Business man who doesnt want to miss any
calls. Leaving aside all these, its slim look and spacious
keypad is sure to attract millions.
