After the success of Nokia 6610, the Nokia Corporation
could not wait to discover another handset which also is named
6610 but with an 'i'. The Nokia 6610i is
slightly different from Nokia 6610. The Nokia 6610i
looks elegant and greatly attractive. It is designed in an appropriate
manner i.e. it is small and slim, the keypad is well-situated
and overall the piece looks compact. It can easily slip into
the user's pocket which proves that the size of the handset
is not too big like 3230 which can never ever fit into
the user's pocket comfortably. The user for sure tends
to get attracted to Nokia 6610i because of its sytlish
appearance.
It operates with Triband GSM 900/1800/1900.
The Nokia 6610i supports a display of 128 x 128
pixels with 4096 colour support. In order to connect
and Synchronise, the handset provides Infrared (IrDA Port)
which can be used only to send business cards, unfortunately.
It does not enable the user to send Images, tones
or pictures. The user shall have to activate GPRS
to send and receive the desired tones or images or pictures.
The Nokia 6610i provides GPRS, WAP, XHTML, email,
data transfer speeds with regard to network operations. Also
provides SyncML technology and PC suite. Over
the air (OTA) setting service can be enjoyed by the user.
The keypad as mentioned before is well-situated
with 4-way navigation and select key but the power
key is terribly uncomfortable to use. One needs
to apply pressure with his finger-nail in order to press the
power key. There is sufficient gap between each button on
the keypad and the user is more than comfortable to use it.
The phone has a capacity to store more than 150 contacts.
The Call register allows a provision to have a list of missed,
received and dialed calls. Also the handset consists of various
other features like calculator, go-to, calendar, polyphonic
sounds (MIDI) and the user can store some other tones also,
if he wishes to. Some petty utilities like, alarm clock, stopwatch
timer, Mobile Wallet and synchronization are also included
within.
The user can send as well as receive text messages,
picture messages and so on. Distribution lists and
SMS-email comes bundled along with the 6610i. This
also applies to Multimedia messaging. The GPRS
however needs to be activated in order to send and receive
images which cannot be done by the IrDA Port or Infrared.
Java application is available to download games wallpapers
and various other things. The games that are already available
with the 6610i, are chess puzzle and bounce.
The
Integrated camera allows the user to capture so-so
clear images along with image editing. The clarity of
the images are referred to so-so because images captured are
not satisfactorily clear unlike 3230 whose image quality
is excellent. The images can be clicked in standard and
night modes.
Thus, the Nokia 6610i does not make the user
regret. It is a piece which has a lot of advantages overpowering
the drawbacks. Nokia claims that the talktime of
the battery is up to 3-3.5 hr whereas its standby time is
up to 150hr-450hr. So, go for the stylish Nokia 6610i.
